Controller S Parts

The Controller S is the one most people actually play with — smaller than the Duke, better shaped, and by far the more common of the two in Europe, where it shipped as the standard pad. It is also twenty years old, and the parts that wear out on a pad are always the same: the rubber on the thumbsticks and the contacts underneath the buttons.
Worn thumbsticks: what it actually looks like
The rubber cap on a Controller S stick goes shiny and slick long before it visibly tears. You notice it as a thumb that slips off during fast aiming, or a stick that feels vague in the centre. That is not drift — real drift comes from a worn potentiometer inside the stick module, and new caps will not fix it. Easy. Opening a Controller S needs a Torx driver and roughly fifteen minutes, and there is no soldering involved for a stick swap. Work over a tray — the trigger springs and the little rumble motor weights like to escape.
A note on Duke vs Controller S
The original Duke controller and the Controller S use different internals. Parts listed in this category are for the Controller S unless the product page explicitly says otherwise. If you’re buying for a Duke, check the listing carefully or ask first.
