The Delta DPSN-96DP-1 is the internal power supply unit Microsoft fitted to Original Xbox consoles sold in 220-240V territories. If your console is dead on the mains — no standby LED, no click from the relay, nothing when you hit power — the PSU is the first thing to rule out, and this is a genuine Delta unit pulled from a working console, tested before it goes in the box.

Installation

Difficulty: Easy. Tools: one Torx driver for the housing screws. No soldering. Realistic time: 15-20 minutes for someone who has opened an Xbox before, 30 minutes the first time.

Open the housing, unplug the PSU header from the motherboard, release the mounting screws, lift the old unit out and reverse the process. Route the loom the same way the original was routed so nothing fouls the DVD drive.

Compatibility

This is a 220-240V, 50/60Hz unit rated at 1.2A input. Do not use it on a 100-127V supply.

Waarschuwing voor 1.6-eigenaren. De 1.6 en 1.6b hebben dezelfde connectorvorm als de 1.2 tot en met 1.4, maar een andere bedrading. Waar op een 1.2–1.4 op kolom 1 pin 8, 9 en 10 gewoon +5V staat, staat op de 1.6 op diezelfde pinnen +5V standby. De stekker past dus, en het gaat mis.

En niet met een pc-voeding proberen. De twintigpins connector op de 1.2 tot en met 1.4 heeft dezelfde vorm als een ATX-stekker uit een gewone computervoeding, maar is volledig anders bedraad.

Wat een Xbox in de praktijk trekt. Deze voedingen leveren maximaal 96 watt. Gemeten aan een draaiende console kwam een 1.0 op ongeveer 68 watt en een 1.3 op ongeveer 65 watt tijdens het spelen, met respectievelijk 2,1 en 1,2 watt in stand-by. Er zit dus ruimte op, ook met een grotere harde schijf erin.

Uitgangsstromen zoals op de print vermeld: 3,3V standby 0,075 A · 3,3V 4,8 A · 5V 13,2 A · 12V 1,2 A.

My Xbox powers on but shuts down after a few seconds — is the PSU the problem? Sometimes, but check the clock capacitor and the motherboard caps first. A leaking clock cap causes exactly that symptom and it is far more common than a failing Delta PSU.

Is this a new unit? No. It is a genuine Delta pull, tested working, with light cosmetic wear consistent with its age.

Can I run it on 110V with a step-down converter? It is specified for 220-240V. Feeding it anything else is on you.
