This is the fix: a Noctua NF-A6x25 60 mm fan, pre-mounted in a custom 3D-printed adapter so it sits where the original fan did. No measuring, no test prints, no fiddling with mounting tabs — it arrives assembled and ready to fit.
Noctua’s engineering is why people pay for this instead of the cheapest 60 mm fan on a marketplace: SSO2 bearings, an AAO frame, Flow Acceleration Channels and Smooth Commutation Drive. It moves air without the whine, and without failing in two years.

Installation
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. You need a T20 for the case. Whether soldering is required depends on the connector question above — confirm before ordering if you would rather not solder. Expect 20–30 minutes with the console open.

Over de fan-aansluiting op het bord. Het moederbord heeft op élke revisie, van 1.0 tot en met 1.6b, dezelfde fan-aansluiting: één rij van drie pinnen. Staat er bij een ventilator "2-pin", dan gaat dat over de stekker aan die ventilator, niet over het bord.
Heb je een 1.0, dan zit daar ook nog een aparte ventilator op het koelblok van de GPU. Vanaf de 1.1 is die vervangen door een groter koelblok zonder ventilator, waardoor die aansluiting vrij is.

Eerlijk over wat je ervan mag verwachten. Deze fan is 60 mm waar de originele 70 mm is, en verplaatst dus minder lucht. Mogelijk moet je de fansnelheid in je dashboard iets omhoog zetten om dezelfde koeling te halen. En tegenover een originele fan die goed is doorgesmeerd is het verschil in geluid klein. Is je huidige fan alleen luidruchtig geworden, probeer die dan eerst te smeren — dat is gratis en werkt vaak.
Wil je écht stilte, dan is een 80 mm-fan de grotere stap, maar daar moet je de behuizing voor uitfrezen. Dat is een ander soort project.
