The cable that turns an Original Xbox controller port into a USB-A port. Plug in a flash drive, a keyboard, or a softmodding tool and the console sees it as a native device. The Xbox controller port is electrically a USB port with a proprietary connector and one extra pin, which is why a simple passive adapter like this works — no drivers, no electronics.
Compared to the small PCB adapter, the cable version gives you slack: the USB stick sits beside the console instead of jutting out of the front panel, which matters if your Xbox lives in a shelf.

Installation
Difficulty: Easy. No tools, no soldering, no disassembly. Plug the Xbox end into a controller port and the USB device into the other end. Under a minute.
Compatibility
Works with all Original Xbox revisions, 1.0 through 1.6b — the controller ports are unchanged across the range. Any of the four ports will do. USB-A on the device side.

Je hebt hier geen mod voor nodig. Een standaard console met het originele dashboard herkent zo'n stick vanzelf: onder Memory verschijnt een geheugenkaartje naast de console. Is de stick nog niet in het formaat van de Xbox, dan wist het dashboard hem en meldt dat. Aansluiten vóór het aanzetten helpt bij twijfelgevallen.
