A genuine Sunon PKD1207PTV1-A cooling fan, pulled from an Original Xbox and tested working. This is one of the 70mm units Microsoft used in the console, so it is a straight swap for a stock fan that has started ticking, whining, or spinning down.
If you would rather go quieter than stock, look at the Noctua route instead. If you want the console to sound and behave exactly as it left the factory, this is the part.

Installation
Difficulty: Easy. Tools: Torx driver for the housing, Phillips for the fan mount. No soldering if the connector is intact. Time: 15 minutes.
Note the airflow direction arrow on the fan hub before you fit it. Fitting an Xbox fan backwards is a genuinely common mistake and the console will run hot without any obvious symptom until something fails.

Eerst smeren, dan pas vervangen. Een ventilator die luidruchtig is geworden, is meestal niet stuk maar uitgedroogd. Doorsmeren geeft er vaak een tweede leven aan en kost niets. Helpt dat niet, dan zijn de lagers of de motor versleten en is vervangen de juiste stap. Let ook op dat het geluid van je console net zo goed uit de harde schijf of de dvd-drive kan komen.

Frequently asked questions
Is this quieter than my current fan? Not by design — it is the stock-spec part. A worn bearing is what makes an old fan loud, so a good tested unit will be quieter than a failing one, but it is not a silent-running upgrade.
Can I undervolt it? Yes, that is a common trick for noise. It also reduces airflow, so do not do it on a console with an upgraded HDD running long sessions.
Will it plug straight in? It should — see the connector VERIFY note.
How do I know which way it should blow? Match the arrow on the hub to the direction the old fan was mounted. Take a photo before removing it.
