A handmade AV cable that gives the Original Xbox a far cleaner picture than the bundled composite lead. Each one is built from Xbox 360 cable with a newly reproduced Original Xbox AV connector, extra internal shielding, and a digital audio output on a yellow RCA plug. Every unit is tested on multiple consoles during and after assembly.

Installation
Difficulty: Easy. No tools, no soldering. Plug the connector into the AV port on the back of the console and the RCAs into your display or receiver, then enable the correct video mode in the Xbox dashboard under Settings. Five minutes, most of which is the dashboard menu.
Compatibility
The AV port is identical on every Original Xbox board revision, so this cable physically fits 1.0 through 1.6b. What you get out of it depends on the console's video settings and the game: the Original Xbox supports 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i, but individual titles only output the modes they were written for, and HD modes have to be enabled in the dashboard's video settings first.
Wat er door die stekker gaat. De Xbox heeft één AV-aansluiting van 24 pinnen waar alles doorheen loopt: composiet, S-Video, component en RGB, plus analoge stereo én digitale S/PDIF-audio.
De console herkent zelf welke kabel erin zit. In de stekker zitten drie herkenningspinnen. Elke kabelsoort legt daar een eigen combinatie op, en daaraan ziet de console of hij composiet of component moet uitsturen. Daarom hoef je niets in te stellen — en daarom geeft een kabel die die pinnen niet goed doortrekt geen beeld of het verkeerde formaat, ook al past hij prima.
Waarom kabelkwaliteit hier uitmaakt. Beeld dat af en toe wegvalt komt op de Xbox vaak door de kabel of de aansluiting: blaas de poort en de stekker eerst schoon met perslucht en sluit opnieuw aan. Blijft het gebeuren, dan is een goedkope componentkabel een bekende oorzaak. Dat is precies de reden om hier niet de allergoedkoopste te nemen.

Frequently asked questions
Will this give me 720p? Only if the game supports it and HD modes are enabled in the dashboard. Many Xbox titles are 480i or 480p only. See the VERIFY note above on the ID resistor.
Can I use it on an Xbox 360? No. The console-side connector is an Original Xbox connector — the donor cable is simply the raw material.
Do I need a receiver for the digital audio? No, it is optional. Use it if you want Dolby Digital output to an AV receiver; otherwise ignore that plug.
Why is it more expensive than a stock composite cable? It is hand-built with a new connector and extra shielding, and tested per unit. Picture quality is a step up from composite, not a marketing claim.
