The Delta AUB0712HH is one of the 70mm fans Microsoft fitted to the Original Xbox. Twenty-plus years on, the sleeve bearings in these are the usual failure point — you’ll hear a ticking or grinding on cold start, or the fan will spin up slower and slower until it stops altogether. A stalled fan on a console that’s already running warm is how you cook a motherboard, so it’s worth fixing properly.
This is a tested pull, not new old stock. It spins freely and quietly at the time of testing.

Installation
Difficulty: Easy. Open the case (T20 Torx), unplug the old fan from the motherboard header, unclip it from the shroud, fit this one the same way round, plug in. No soldering required — provided your header matches the connector, see the verify note above. 15 minutes.
Compatibility
Fits the Original Xbox 70mm fan position. Microsoft second-sourced this fan from several manufacturers over the production run, so the Delta, the Nidec and the Minebea all turn up in consoles from the same era.
Over de fan-aansluiting op het bord. Het moederbord heeft op élke revisie, van 1.0 tot en met 1.6b, dezelfde fan-aansluiting: één rij van drie pinnen. Staat er bij een ventilator "2-pin", dan gaat dat over de stekker aan die ventilator, niet over het bord.
Ja, de console regelt de ventilator echt terug. Op een 1.0 tot en met 1.4 wordt het stuursignaal van de SMC op het moederbord door een op-amp en een doorlaattransistor omgezet naar een variabele gelijkspanning. Op een 1.6 doet de Xyclops-chip dat zelf, met een terugkoppeling erbij. In beide gevallen krijgt de ventilator werkelijk minder volt, geen gehakte spanning. Zet je in een dashboard als UnleashX de fansnelheid lager, dan draait hij ook echt langzamer en stiller.
Eerst smeren, dan pas vervangen. Een ventilator die luidruchtig is geworden, is meestal niet stuk maar uitgedroogd. Doorsmeren geeft er vaak een tweede leven aan en kost niets. Helpt dat niet, dan zijn de lagers of de motor versleten en is vervangen de juiste stap. Let ook op dat het geluid van je console net zo goed uit de harde schijf of de dvd-drive kan komen.

Is 40.5 dB(A) loud? That's the manufacturer's rating at a full 12 V. In a console that value is a ceiling, not what you'll hear day to day —.
Can I fit a Noctua instead? Yes, and plenty of people do — see the related products. The Noctua route is quieter but needs an adapter and gives you less static pressure.
Is it new? No. It's a genuine pull, tested and working, and may show cosmetic wear.
Will it fix my overheating Xbox? It'll fix a fan-caused overheat. If the fan already spins fine, look at dried thermal paste on the CPU/GPU instead.
